since 1985 : Cofounder, partner and managing director of the Richez_Associés architectural firm. Has been leading, together with Edouard François (untill 1989) and Bertrand Dubus (until 2008), and with Frédéric Blerot since 2009, for more than 20 years, the development of Richez_Associés (Paris), in France and internationally, and, for more than 10 years, together with Zaini Zainul, of Zaini dan_Richez (Kuala-Lumpur) : > Design of numerous buildings in France (residential, offices, industry, catering..) and in Asia (French Embassy in Singapore, office buildings in Malaysia, Putrajaya new city Civic Center…) > Masterplanning, urban design, and streetscape design : Thomas Richez is the coordinating architect of the Charolais sustainable development in Paris, of Jules Verne in Amiens, of Grisettes in Montpellier, and led the urban design of the new city of Putrajaya in Malaysia. Thomas Richez designed also a number of landmark piazzas, such as Places de la République in le Mans and Metz, Amiens rue de Noyon, Eole-Evangile in Paris… > Particular expertise in transportation projects, with tramway projects in le Mans, Rheims, Orléans second line, Paris, Brest, Casablanca, la Réunion island LRT… and transportation hubs in Argenteuil, Sartrouville, Choisy-le-Roi, Lens, La Baule, Bobigny… which make, together with the know-how and involvement of the team, Richez_Associés #1 in France on this field. 1980 - 1984 : Urbanist, and subsequently director of studies for a private consultancy firm.In charge of city planning activity of the firm for the Nord-Pas de Calais region. Other professional activities Thomas Richez has been the President of AFEX, association of French exporting architects, from 2002 to 2008. He regularly delivers lectures in universities (ENPC, Paris-Belleville) and public conferences (AFEX in Singapore, Bahrain, Doha, St-Petersburg, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City… Union Internationale des Transports Publics, Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris...). |

1982-1990 : American experience. After finishing his architectural studies, he received awards + prizes, including 'the Education Award' in 1988, a competition organised between the Architectural schools, 'Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Prize' in 1989 for the best thesis at Columbia University and The Young Architect's Forum Award in 1991. He was the project designer for Knoll International in New York, responsible for all their showrooms all around the USA, and a design assistant for Ralph Appelbaum Associates in NYC for the 'Museum of the Holocaust' in Washington DC. 1991-1995 : European experience. After winning the 'Paris Prize Award' from NIAE, he collaborated with various architects in France. Simultaneously during this period, his personal research work gained recognition from the French Minister of Housing, Transport and Construction with the prize of 'the Album of Young Architects in 1993'. He represented Malaysia for an exhibition to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations in Geneva. He was also selected to represent France with 6 others architects for the 6th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, Italy. 1996 : He joined Dubus_Richez as a partner in Zaini Dubus_Richez for developing projects n South East Asia, with a main office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. other professional activities He acted as professor of design in architecture at Columbia University in New-York, and at the Architectural Association in London. |
