Inaugurated in popular jubilation, in November 2007, the tramway has transformed the city of Le Mans : the 15 km of retrofitted streets unroll a green carpet in the suburbs, and full granite and deactivated ocher concrete surfaces in the downtown area. In a city that has a complex road network and a fragmented geography, the tramway creates a much needed red thread that organizes and unifies Le Mans cityscape.
